Company will invest more than $1.5 million and add up to 30 new jobs
Bedford, Virginia—The Bedford County Office of Economic Development, in partnership with the Economic Development Authority (EDA), announced that Air Filter Systems, LLC (AFS) will invest more than $1.5 million in Bedford County and add up to 30 new jobs over the next three years. The company has purchased an 8.57-acre tract in the Montvale Center for Commerce in Montvale and will construct a single story 20,000-square-foot building as a corporate office, warehouse and distribution center.

The company is a distributor of multiple lines of filtration products including HVAC air filters, cleanroom HEPAs, UV lighting, and paint booth finishing. The company’s existing corporate office is in Roanoke, however, that location will close in order to expand and consolidate operations in Montvale.
In a joint statement, company owners Rick Mongold and Mike McDaniel said, “We have an existing lease, but we are growing, and the current space doesn’t meet our demands, nor our anticipated growth. We are excited to get the ball rolling on this project and hope to be fully operational by spring of 2026.”
The company has other locations including North Carolina and Ohio and searched multiple states before determining Montvale was the best location for their headquarters.
“Bedford County is an ideal location for AFS to establish its headquarters,” said Matthew Braud, EDA Chairman. “The Montvale site expansion provides convenient access to major highways, supporting both their distribution operations and workforce accessibility.”
AFS is bringing 15 existing jobs from Roanoke to Montvale with plans to hire 15 more people over the next few years. Most of the initial positions that the company will be hiring are technicians with an average salary of $55,000 per year.
