Liberty Athletics to host the 2025 NCAA Golf Regional at Poplar Grove Golf Club, May 12 through May 14.
Liberty Athletics is excited to host the 2025 NCAA Golf Regional at Poplar Grove Golf Club, May 12 through May 14. Some of the best collegiate golfers will be trying to secure their spot in the NCAA Golf Championship. To ensure the event runs smoothly, Liberty is seeking help from over 100 volunteers. Liberty Athletics notes, "We’re looking for volunteers who can commit to most of the event days to help ensure consistency in each role." Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day for volunteers along with an NCAA gift. All volunteers must be 18 years or older. Please see below for a list of volunteer positions that are needed:
- Walking Scorekeeper (approx. 25 needed): This position will be keeping score for three golfers in a particular group and requires a person be able to walk all 18 holes of Popular Grove Golf Club, approximately 5 hours. This person is also required to use their cell phone to provide live scoring after every completed hole. Knowledge of USGA rules is not required but knowing basic golf scoring is helpful. This position is the most critical and will be filled first.
- Pace of Play Monitor (5 needed who can volunteer all three days): This position will monitor the place of play on the course during the championship. Five volunteers will be needed for all three days of competition and for training the day before the first round (on May 11). The same five people need to be present all four days to stay consistent in how the pace of play rules will be enforced.
- Spotters (approx. 12-20 needed): Several people are needed to help players find their balls on a few holes where there are blind spots. Volunteers will be assigned a hole/area to view for the day.
- Shuttle Driver (approx. 9-12 needed): This position will shuttle the players from the green to the next tee by golf cart. 9-12 volunteers are needed each day.
- Course Volunteers (minimum of 15 each day): This position will work a tent at a specific hole for drinks and snacks for players and coaches.
- Parking Attendants (minimum of 8 each day): Assist in parking for teams, volunteers, spectators, etc. at the event.
- Clubhouse/Media Attendants: A few volunteers are needed around the clubhouse to help with the media, volunteers, etc. for questions and issues.
- Concessions/Meals (approx. 6-8 needed): This position will help distribute the meals to the volunteers throughout the day and help with concessions for the teams and fans. 6-8 volunteers are needed each day.
Shifts will vary slightly on the position you are assigned to, but typical shifts are 7 am to noon and noon to 5 pm. As mentioned before, consistency will help with this regional so preference will be given to those who can serve multiple shifts/days.
