This Week's Inspection Results

That story outlines the details of local Health Department inspections and the results of those reports. Without a good understanding of this, you run the risk of overreacting.

The health department provides information that allows you to read online about a restaurant’s health inspection status. One excerpt from last week’s story is a good reminder that there are multiple factors to consider when reading a report. In some cases, certain violations are noted that clearly show issues, while in others, it is important to understand the violations. A restaurant with violations is not necessarily a bad place to eat. That said, the primary news is that establishments with zero to a few violations are to be commended as violations are common.

From May 13th to May 20th, there were thirty-eight inspections, of which:

• Of the twenty-six typical inspections:
  • Nine had zero violations, including Appomattox Moose Lodge #975, Dearington Elementary, Linkhorne Elementary, Methodist Day Care, Millie's Living Café, Robert S. Payne School, The Shack, The Mill Iron Grill, and Nomad Coffee Company, LLC.
  • Seven had one violation, and the remaining eleven ranged from two to fourteen violations. On the top end, Seven Hills Rehabilitation and Nursing had eight, and Koto Japanese Steakhouse had fourteen.
• Six were follow-up inspections from previous inspections.
• The remaining six inspections were Other and Pre-opening.
