PDGA Champions Cup Competition Coming to Bedford County in 2026

Some of the best disc golf players in the world will play on the New London Tech Disc Golf Course next year, as the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) brings its Champions Cup competition to Bedford County April 9-12, 2026.

This announcement comes less than a year after the PDGA Pro World Championship at the New London course in August 2024 that attracted thousands of local and out-of-town spectators.

“This prestigious tournament will not only highlight the world-class talent of disc golfers but also provide an amazing opportunity to showcase the natural beauty, rich history, and warm hospitality that make Bedford County such a special place,” said Nicole Johnson, Director of Tourism for Bedford County. “This event will bring visitors from across the globe, driving tourism, supporting local businesses, and strengthening our community’s reputation as a top destination for disc golf and outdoor enthusiasts.”

Tournament Director Nate Heinhold added: “Our team is incredibly excited to return to the area for the 2026 Champions Cup at New London. Our partners in Virginia are incredible to work with, and we are very confident that this event will be very successful. The heavily wooded track at New London will prove to be a formidable test for the top players in the world.” 

The New London Disc Golf Course was designed by six-time PDGA World Champion Paul McBeth. He is currently working with Bedford County Parks & Recreation staff to relocate several holes due to an expansion in the New London Business & Technology Center where the course is located. The course is expected to reopen by May 26, 2025.

“The new layout will be as hard as the existing layout, and still provide a similar feel,” said Heinhold. 

Bedford County and the City of Lynchburg are also hosting the PDGA finale championship from Oct. 16-19, 2025.
