READERS PLATFORM GUIDELINES

Table of content

Welcome to the Readers Platform, the dedicated space for you to voice your opinions through letters to the editor. Please adhere to the guidelines outlined below to ensure your submission is considered for publication. The Lynchburg Agenda holds the exclusive right to determine the suitability of each submission for our readership. Should your letter be chosen, it will be featured once, and by submitting, you grant us permission to publish the content. We uphold originality and will not publish letters that are duplicates, reprints, copies, or otherwise unoriginal. We accept letters that are either typed or legibly handwritten. Now, share your insights with Greater Lynchburg!

  • Frequency of Submissions: Contributors are welcome to send one letter per month. Submissions from individuals outside our newspaper's service area are not considered for publication.
  • Word Limit: Letters must be three hundred words or fewer. Submissions exceeding this limit may be trimmed at our discretion. All submissions are subject to editorial revision to ensure clarity and conformity with our style guide.
  • Content Requirements: We uphold the right to reject letters having overtly offensive language or content considered inappropriate for our readership.
  • Opinions vs. Facts: We encourage writers to share their perspectives. However, to keep the integrity, we will omit unsubstantiated factual claims.
  • Verification: For publication, letters must include the author's name, address, and phone number for our verification purposes. Only the name and city will be shown alongside the published letter. Anonymity is not an option.
  • Libelous Content: Statements of defamation, including libel and slander, or personal attacks, will not be published.
  • Responses and References: When responding to earlier letters or articles, focus on the issue, avoiding personal references. Please cite the original headline and date. For election-related letters, we will cease publication in the final issue before Election Day to keep impartiality.
  • Contact for Queries: All inquiries about letter submissions and further help or clarification on guidelines, please reach out to us at contact@lynchburgagenda.com.
