The rain drummed softly on the pavement as I arrived at CAVA on Old Forest Road, looking for a healthy, comforting meal with friends. As a self-proclaimed bowl enthusiast, I was excited to build my own creation at a place known for its Mediterranean-inspired flavors.
CAVA’s bright and modern interior was a welcome contrast to the gloomy weather outside. The atmosphere was quiet, with only a handful of diners scattered throughout the restaurant—an ideal setting for catching up with friends on a Saturday evening.
My order was a rice bowl packed with white rice, perfectly seasoned grilled chicken, grilled corn, crisp lettuce, creamy feta, tangy tzatziki, pickled onions, cucumber, tomato, and crunchy pita crisps, all topped with a dollop of yogurt dill dressing. Every bite was a harmonious blend of fresh and zesty flavors, and I savored the bowl until it was empty.
One friend crafted a bold mix with saffron rice, super greens, pickled onions, feta, cucumbers, and roasted broccoli. His protein choice was half harissa chicken and half traditional grilled chicken, and he finished it off with tomatoes, garlic dressing, and tahini Caesar.
Another friend had a bit of a mishap with her order. She asked for the spicy lamb meatballs but admitted to distracting the bowl-maker mid-assembly. The result was not what she initially ordered, but the flavors still worked for her, and she enjoyed the meal despite the mix-up.
Our final friend went for a lighter bowl with brown rice, red pepper hummus, cucumbers, feta, garlic sauce, and grilled chicken. The flavors were simple yet satisfying.
The staff member behind the counter was friendly and upbeat, which made our visit more enjoyable.
CAVA’s fast-casual vibe and focus on customization make it a standout spot for Mediterranean-inspired bowls. While it is busier during the lunch rush, our evening visit provided a serene environment to enjoy our meals and catch up. The minor hiccup with one order was easily forgiven thanks to the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff.
As a lover of Greek and Mediterranean flavors, CAVA has earned a permanent spot in my dining rotation. Whether it’s for a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner with friends, I know I’ll be back to exploring even more combinations from their fresh and flavorful menu.
