I go downtown almost daily and every time I do, I drive past Rhodora and Burg Burritos, often stopping in to buy a card, bottle of wine or just peruse the latest inventory which is constantly alternating between the two-floor shop.
Burg Burritos is the epitome of a downtown café – small but mighty and adorable with its outdoor seating on Church Street.
I have dined outside which makes me feel immersed in the downtown life but oftentimes, I just grab a burrito to go.
In addition to its regular menu, they offer $10 burritos on Wednesdays as well as a “date night special” which includes one bottle of wine, two burritos, chips and queso and dessert for $50 which is pretty good in this economy.
On this one particular visit, I ordered my usual “The Chickie” made up of adobo chicken, seasoned rice, black beans, shredded red cabbage, Monterey cheese, and corn salsa along with homemade chips and salsa – my all-time fave.
It’s always hot, fresh, gooey with cheese, giant and delicious. A great bang for your buck.
But Owner Steph Atkinson was offering up some new specials as well such as the “Bang Bang Sushi Burrito” which was a choice of crispy tofu or popcorn chicken, with house made bang bang sauce, rolled up with cucumber and carrots on sticky rice with a drizzle of sweet chili sauce.
I decided to go for it and get both burritos and split them with my mom back at her house.
The special burrito was unique, creative and also delicious. I don’t think I have had a better burrito outside of this place.
The service is also easy and fast. You put your order in over at the Rhodora side and within 10 minutes, you had a burrito in hand.
The menu is diverse with offerings of pork, steak, chorizo, bacon, and tofu as well as breakfast fixings like egg, tater tots and avocado.
