Job Description

Central Virginia Community College is located in Lynchburg, Virginia, in view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. CVCC is a comprehensive two-year institution of higher education with an enrollment of approximately 5,000 students in occupational/technical programs and university-parallel/college transfer programs.

Position serves as the College Business Manager, providing supervision and direction to the Accounting office and the Procurement office, reporting directly to the Vice President (VP) for Finance and Administrative Services. This position functions as both the College Comptroller and the college level Procurement Coordinator. As the Comptroller, the position is responsible for the supervision and management of all the financial operations of the college and related foundation. This position works closely with the VP for Finance and Administrative Services to prepare the annual budget and monitors the budget as approved by the President’s Cabinet. This position serves as liaison to our central procurement team and coordinates and manages college level processes. This position is responsible for cash management of both the College foundation funds and the College local funds

Special Assignments--May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications--Bachelor’s degree in business/accounting or related field or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training required. Extensive experience in accounting is required. Requires extensive knowledge of accounting (governmental and GAAP) and business procedures as well as considerable knowledge of purchasing processes. Knowledge and ability to plan, analyze and manage multiple tasks and solve complex problems. The position requires skill in managing and supervising financial staff and strong policy/decision making skills.
